About Us: Ecuador

Ecuador is a unique and small country located within the Northwest region of South America. The population is estimated to be around 16 million, which makes it less than half the size of its neighbouring countries of Colombia and Peru. Ecuador includes the Galápagos Islands, which are located about 1,000 km off the Pacific coast. Ecuador is also home to Quito, which is not only the closest capital city in the world to the equator, but has the highest elevation of any official capital city in the world.

BananasMain Exports
Ecuador is very well known for its bananas, chocolate, flowers, shrimp and even coffee. Although Ecuadorian jewelry is not as internationally known as their bananas, we're hoping the spread the word.

Guayaquil is the largest city in Ecuador, both by population and size. It supports the main port in Ecuador because the city sits on the bank of the Guayas River, which feeds directly into the Pacific ocean. Guayaquil is a very diverse city that offers a variety of tourist attractions, including the Malecon (pier), Las Peñas (a Heritage neighbourhood), and countless cathedrals.

Quito is the capital city of Ecuador. Located high in the Andes mountains (over 9,000 ft above sea level), it is one of the most breathtaking cities in the country. Quito is probably most known for the fact that the extends to about 1 km from the equator, making it one of the biggest tourist attractions in Ecuador. The City of Quito is one of only a few Ecuadorian cultural sites on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Galápagos IslandsGalápagos Islands
The Galápagos Islands are located about 1,000 km off the Pacific coast of Ecuador. The islands became famous in their role of contributing to Charles Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection. Expeditions to the islands include hiking and taking in some of the most unique and amazing wildlife on earth.
